Technopolymers, also known as engineering plastics, are polymers with superior mechanical and physical properties that allow them to be used as a substitute for metals.

The properties of various types of engineering plastics include heat resistance, mechanical strength, stiffness, chemical stability, and self-lubrication (used primarily in the manufacture of gears and pads).
